- History culture- Sanjhi artists from the Mathura-Vrindavan area. They create beautiful images of Lord Krishna using paper-scisccors. Mathura MP Hema Malini raised the issue in Parliament that while Madhubani artists from Bihar and Warli painting artists from Maharashtra are promoted through textile products, but Sanjhi art should also get similar support by the textile ministry.

- History: freedom fighters- Durga bhabhi and husband Bhagwati Charan Vohra. They were members of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). Durga bhabhi is best known for having accompanied Bhagat Singh on the train journey in which he made his escape in disguise after the killing of John P. Saunders. Gujarat revenue minister says that Bhagwaticharan Vora and Durga Bhabhi were from Vadnagar in Gujarat. (although from the internet search it appears that these two freedom fighters were born in other states like Punjab and Uttar Pradesh but perhaps their parents/grandparents may be merchants from Gujarat.)
